Know Your Solar Plexus Chakra, and Tap Into Your Seat of Power!

The SOLAR PLEXUS Chakra is our spiritual energy field also known as our seat of power. This is where many of us connect to and feel our INtuition. It's that "gut feeling" we get when we just know that we know!

It is the primary force behind your ability to create the life you desire.

This energetic field is located right above our belly buttons and is associated with the color yellow. It is also directly connected to our power and ability to act; it signals to us that we are capable of doing or accomplishing something; it is our will power and holds the innate control over our mind. Lastly, it is our deliberate independence in making conscious choices.

Our Solar Plexus is developed between the ages of 3-6 years old according to Erik Erikson's Age Stages of Development. It is during this period that children begin to take initiative and explore their independence, however if the adults in their lives dishonors them with control or criticism, the energy field gets blocked from further developing.

The Solar Plexus issues are related to “self” such as self-control, self-power, and self-boundaries, self-responsibility, and self-esteem. The life experiences related to the Solar Plexus energy are fear of rejection, and over-sensitivity to criticism. The Solar Plexus energy is focused on our sense of self and our place in the world. Self-confidence, discernment, self- determination, and autonomy are the results of the unblocked flow of this chakra

The function of the solar plexus is to provide the body with will, power and assertiveness. As we face the challenges of life that call us to move forward, the energy of the solar plexus chakra supports us. We can call forth the power and the will to initiate change enabling us to set boundaries in our lives and discover new things. Therefore, we overcome the passiveness of our old ways of thinking and behaving. The solar plexus is our fire and that “Fire is the spark that ignites will to action”.

Physical Experience:

When the solar plexus chakra is out of balance, you may experience issues with the organs and glands of digestion, stomach, pancreas, liver, gallbladder, upper intestines adrenal glands, the middle spine, and parts of you that deal with movement. These illnesses demonstrate emotional and mental issues that are “undigested” and affect the body. For instance, liver problems reflect issues with anger, disease affecting the pancreas demonstrates challenges with receiving the sweetness of life including expressing and integrating love; kidneys hold childhood perceptions; gallbladder indicates grief about men or the use of our masculine energy.

Emotional Experience:

What we experience in our heads is different than what we feel in our gut. Our minds say yes, but that twinge in our stomachs is saying no. Have you ever done something and it didn't work out the you desired it, and then you say to yourself, "I knew better?" Grappling and wrestling with emotions here creates the pain necessary to feel our power. We feel the pain in the pits of out gut...This sit the seat of power. Being aware of the feeling will support you in keeping your word, honoring yourself, and keeping yourself balanced. When there is a fear of rejection or you are over sensitive to self judgment as well as criticism outside of yourself, you know that you are out of alignment.

Mental Experience:

The mental body relates to the intellect which is governed by our discernment. This discernment helps us to guide our will and is essential in developing ethics and beliefs that will support us. It is this level of discernment and intellect that gives us the ability to define our boundaries, i.e. to say yes and mean yes; or to say no and mean no.

Spiritual Experience:

When our Solar Plexus is balanced, we have faith in our ability to carry out our divine purpose, including the vision we have for our lives. This balanced chakra is needed in the process of transformation.
