Health and Wellness | Oil Chat: Living Chemical Free

Hey Sunshines,

Recently I attended the March Oil Chat: Living Chemical Free, a monthly class hosted by Tyreese Joseph, a distributor for Young Living, on the campus of Methodist University in Fayetteville, NC. Young Living is a company, whose mission according to their website is to “champion nature's living energy, essential oils, by fostering a community of healing and discovery while inspiring individuals to wellness, purpose, and abundance.”

The class itself was super informative. We chatted about the different synthetic chemicals, which most are labeled as carcinogens and are found in U.S. products we use for our hair, skin, food and internal wellbeing. Many of them reportedly cause kidney damage, liver failure, allergies and infertility amongst other dysfunctions and dis-eases of the body.

What moved me most about the class was a perspective from a student of the University and originally from a village in Nepal right on the border of Tibet. Paraphrasing, she stated that in her village, herbs, other natural resources along with Tibetan healing medicine was her way of life. They didn’t treat toxins with more toxins [synthetic chemicals], but rather removed the toxin that was causing the dysfunction. Later she went on to say, as we began chatting about the toxins that can be found in makeup and hair products, that they were taught from a young age that beauty is not what’s on the outside but its brains and the heart. If you’re smart and are kind, then you’re beautiful. Her conviction was so inspiring that I have adopted this way of thinking as I begin my journey into decreasing toxins in my own life.

Again, the class was a great introduction into the world of essential oils. See the images below for a quick reference and for more information, visit Tyreese’s Facebook page, A Drop of Oil to learn more about the purpose and functions of different essential oils including DIY recipes. You can also visit The Environmental Working Group where you can get more detailed information about toxins, GMOs and other environmental resources.

The class, for me was simply a catalyst to further my own research. Knowledge is not power without the application of it! Get informed!

Until next time, remember to CREATE each day INTENTIONALLY GOOD and Be Beautifully Inspired!

Sincerely,

Schan
