Hey Sunshines! What are you wiling to lose in order to reclaim your power? When I answered the call to enroll in Inner Visions Institute for Spiritual Development and attended my first class weekend, I remember being in the room with 12 other women on the journey to being Spiritual Life Coaches, under the leadership and mentorship of the very well honored and respected, Dr. Iyanla Vanzant. In her commanding, yet "mama" tone of voice, she spoke words of wisdom to us. As she was speaking, I locked eyes with her as she declared these words, "You must. Be willing. To lose. Everything." A chill went through my entire body. It felt like it was just she, I and God in the room. What did that mean? My Spirit knew EXACTLY what she meant, however my ego would pretend it didn't have a clue. I was ok with surrendering my intellect to learn Spiritual Laws and Principles. I was ready for a new thing. I was fine with surrendering my Government job because I didn't want to be there anyway I was even cool with surrendering my family; I wanted them to be healed too.
I was willing to give up all of that, but there was one part of me that my Spirit was requiring me to surrender and I DID NOT WANT to. AT. ALL. That part of me was the man that I was I deeply in love with. I kicked, screamed and even tried to pray my way out of letting go of this relationship to no avail. Again, my Spirit knew. After nearly 3 months of holding on, I pried my fingers from the proverbial rope I was holding on to. He made it easier for me, because he let go also. I could now exhale and breathe. Not because the relationship was terrible or that either one of us had done anything to dishonor the other. For me, it was a releasing of ALL things that I placed before my own growth; my own healing; my own better living.
Sometimes a thing has to be torn down in order to be built back up. It may hurt. It may feel uncomfortable. However, it's not personal.
This reminded me of the commitment I had made to God, "It all belongs to You. I will acknowledge You in all my ways and trust You will direct my path" There will come a time in life where you're going to have to reach way down and activate both the COURAGE and the WILLINGNESS to let go and surrender EVERYTHING. This is where your TRUE POWER lies. This is where you'll begin to discover the TRUTH about who you really. You are a unique, creative, expression of God, powerful, purpose-filled, and full of passion to do your life's work.
What are you holding on to that no longer serves your highest good? What are you holding on to that's stopping you from soaring? What are you holding on to that hindering you from healing?
These are the hard questions you must ask yourself. 2018 is rapidly approaching. If you are holding on to ANYTHING that is compromising your authentic self and not aligning with your purpose for this season, find the courage and willingness to surrender.
WHAT I KNOW NOW
Surrendering something DOES NOT mean it's "wrong" or "bad" It simply means that I am CHOOSING to TRUST God with EVERY aspect of my LIFE. If I can do it, I KNOW that you can.
