Failure is My Friend and Fertilizer to Keep Growing! | What I Know Now

Have you ever failed at anything? How did that make you feel? Disappointed? Embarrassed? Angry perhaps? Did you feel like a failure? This is all good! When we allow ourselves to feel, we can begin the journey of accepting what is, using our own Inner Authority to take the necessary steps in making another choice. That's exactly what failure should be, a teacher that taps us on the shoulder saying to us "You win! You've discovered a way not to do this. Now you can make another choice and win again!" Beloveds, it's really all about choices AND seeing yourself as a winner in all things.

My Personal Mantra: "In all things, I always win!"

And, I will offer that failure is NOT a person, rather an event. So from this moment forward, know with all of your heart that YOU have never been and will ever be a failure! Consider these stories as motivation: Thomas Edison made 1000 unsuccessful attempts before successfully inventing the light bulb. (Aren’t you glad he didn’t stop at 999!) Henry Ford went bankrupt twice in failed businesses before he succeeded with the Ford Motor Company. JK Rowling was rejected by 12 publishers for her story about a boy wizard before a small publishing house accepted it. The series has sold 450 million worldwide. Walt Disney was fired from a newspaper because, “he lacked imagination and had no good ideas.” Michael Jordan’s story is my favorite. “I’ve had 9000 missed shots in my career. I’ve lost 300 games- 26 times I’ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again. That is why I succeed.” So now that we know failure isn't some bad thing, we can use it to our advantage. Failure is our fertilizer for growth and success!

“Fail early, fail often, but always fail forward.” John Maxwell

What are some Mindsets and Core Beliefs about

ourselves that can keep us living in the fear of failure:

I am not good enough to do this. I am unimportant, that's what I can't get this anything right. I am not worthy of achieving. If I fail, people will not believe in me. If I fail, that means I've chosen the wrong thing and should move on. If I fail, it proves what others have said I am incapable of doing. Do any of these sound familiar? WHAT I KNOW NOW Failure is my friend. It is the fertilizer that builds my resilience and masters my capacity to stand in the face of fear and courageously keep moving!

  • Failure strengthens my determination to keep going.

  • Failure is my teacher and I can gain valuable knowledge and wisdom.

  • Failure if my opportunity to uncover what does not work so I can discover what does.

  • Failure opens me up to a world of choices.

  • Risking failure will support me in living courageously!
