From Chaos to Calm: How Meditation Saved My Life!

Anxiety hit me out of nowhere it seemed. I could barely leave the house. I couldn’t drive or even sit in a movie theater because the roar of the speaker volume sent my heart into palpitations. I was spiraling out of control. I felt safest in the house, blinds closed, curled up on the couch, wrapped up in blankets. Positive affirmations didn’t help. Praying didn’t help. People telling me “it’ll be ok or asking me to tell them what was wrong when I didn’t damn know!” did not help at all. You know what did? Meditation. Prayers and positive affirmations helped later, however, meditation literally saved my life and got me back on track.  It helped me to remain present in the moment and control my mind from wandering into the future of “what may or could happen.”

With meditation I was able to focus. I was finally able to understand clearly what I had heard elders say, “I’m standing in the gap.” The gap is the more fertile space in between your thoughts. The more space you have in between your thoughts, the more inner peace and calm you'll be able to cultivate.  When we implant positive thoughts and intentions in the gap, we are able to create and manifest on a deeper level.

What is Meditation?

Meditation is a means of transforming the mind. It is a state of consciousness when the mind is free from scattered thoughts and patterns.

Creating a daily meditation practice supported me in developing concentration, clarity, calm and even heightened creativity. When I started seeing and experiencing life from this place, it became the gateway to experiencing optimal health on all levels of my being, physically, mentally, emotionally and yes, spiritually. Mediation was my portal to building relationship with Divine Source or Divine Self.  It was the connection I was missing from something greater that I knew had existed.

Some Benefits of Meditation:

  • Relief from stress and anxiety

  • Decreased blood pressure and lower cholesterol

  • More efficient oxygen uses by the body

  • Emotional Balance

  • Restful sleep

  • Enhanced creativity

  • Increased concentration and mental clarity

  • Deepened spiritual connectivity

Now I can meditate anywhere, especially when I feel myself getting frustrated (you know like in a long line at the grocery store and the person in front of you is going super slow, or when someone is driving crazy on the highway...Lol).  Nobody even know that I'm doing it.

If I hadn't discovered meditation, I'm not sure where I would be right now.

♥ Meditation is how I get back to center and in alignment with my true self.

♥ Meditation is how I write out my emotions and move toxic energy out of my body.

♥ Meditation is my portal when I need to connect to Spirit and the wisdom of my ancestors.

I do talk more about how meditation was my saving grace, along with some tips and tools on how to meditate in my book, BEING WOMAN ~ A Sacred Journey to Reconnecting to the Divine Truth of Who You Are.  I call it the "personal self healing guide!"  It gives insight and resources on not just meditation, but on all aspects of my healing journey.  Plus it's has writing prompts and heart assignments.  Go ahead and get you a copy and get your life all the way together! Lol

Now I find joy in facilitating guided meditation and teaching other women how to meditate.  It truly saved my life and I'm all here for sharing the goodness!
